My (frequently out of date) muselist is here Character Basics Character Name Stefen Series/Canon The Last Herald-Mage Trilogy Canon Point End of Magic's Price Game(s) quietmounds Canon Details Stefen is taken from very near the end of Magic's Price, but before the timeskip epilogue. Essentially, right as he headed home from the Forest of Sorrows, he ended up in Quiet Mounds. He's gone through some shit and is vacillating between continuing to repress as he has for the last few months and having a complete breakdown, as is more his style. Character Details Age 19 Hair/Eyes Dark auburn/"bottomless" hazel eyes Height/Weight Short/skinny ("Delicate"), but with some wiry muscle visible. Notable Traits "Looks like a demented angel" and "has the most stubborn chin (Vanyel) has ever seen." 15 Second Summary Stefen is a Master Bard despite his young age, and if playing or singing, it is not only gorgeous but includes the Bardic Gift—essentially a form of projective empathy; he can make you feel things or gain impulses due to his music. Fortunately, he's a good person who is well-trained and is not going to make you feel more generous while he busks. Born and raised on the streets, Stef has lived the last nine years of his life in the Bardic college on Palace grounds, where he got a reputation for sleeping around with boys; this and his incredibly strong talent and drive to learn earned him the ire of his fellow students other than his best friend and roommate, Medren. Medren knew a total of two gay people: Stef, and his incredibly beautiful, tragic, and lonely Uncle Vanyel, and promptly set about to hook the two of them up, which was much more successful than expected (after 1/3 a book of wacky hijinks). Unfortunately, the plot then led Stef into dealing with murders, violence, and loss greater than he'd ever imagined. Needless to say, he's currently very depressed and miserable, though he's trying to cover it up with his usual sensible good cheer. Clothing Stef is wearing a BRIGHT SCARLET high fantasy outfit, and carrying a musical instrument strapped to his back (a gittern, basically a portable-sized lute). His arrival extra set of clothes is jeans, t-shirt, sandals, and socks. Abilities & Permissions Abilities Stefen has all parts of the Bardic Gift and a Wild Talent! The Bardic Gift comes in three forms: the gift (the more magic part), performance (the natural ability to play well), and creativity (the natural ability to compose music well). As well as being able to play pretty much any instrument he picks up with some level of competence, the gift allows him to influence people's emotions or behavior through their music; it's essentially a form of projective empathy. That said, he won't do it without consent (for example, if people attend a musical performance it's considered consent to be emotionally effected by the music) or if situations are dire. He also has the Wild Talent to block people's pain for the duration of his playing, if he chooses. Other than that he's useless, tho he was trained to fight at some point. Sensing Stef is pretty fucking traumatized rn, tbh. He's fairly hardy but anyone sensing emotions is going to notice incredible grief and exhaustion and so on. He also is someone else's reincarnation, so anyone who can see souls or whatever will see probably a melding of his current appearance with blond curls and brown eyes. THERE IS ALSO THE LIFEBOND but his is currently broken, though trying to reform to Vanyel. Btw a broken lifebond is a pretty shit experience also.
