You find yourself in a stone room that looks like some sort of medieval dungeon. There are (thankfully), no torture instruments, but there is a man strung up here. One large manacle is around his neck, chaining him stiffly to the door. His hands are free, but each foot is manacled to the matching bottom corner of the doorframe. There is a visible lock on each of the three manacles.

It's Stefen, and there's a knife in his chest. Despite that, he's alive, apparently alert, and doesn't look to be in pain, perhaps due to the lulling, sense-dulling music that seems to be coming from nowhere at all—in fact, if you were in pain before you entered, it's gone here. His wound is bleeding, but only a little, and he smiles his usual bright smile at you.

Behind him, but in front of the closed door he's bound to, you can see three double sets of strings running vertically. Where they meet the floor, they are fastened, and then each runs across the floor to the three doors on the opposite wall, then under them.

There is nothing else in this room.

"Ah, no. I mean, yes, everything in here is Stefen, but... Do you want me to get you out of here?"

"Because I'm part of the past that's a little further back."

:I would like to know what happened here, please. And if I could help.:

"I can't tell you." he sounds apologetic. "But you can't. It's all over, and... well, that's how things are sometimes. All we can do is be better in the future, right?"

:Can you tell me your name...? If Stefen isn't what you'd first respond to.:

"I'm the True Heart."

:I see. Then, what can I do for you? If not specifically here...:

"Ah... Were you supposed to do something for me?" He sounds confused. "I had the feeling some people got put in here but I didn't know it was for something. I'm the part that can get them out, though."

[tiny sigh]

:I can simply leave if you'd rather. It seems awfully rude to be a guest and not offer, though.:

[he's silent a long moment]

"I don't know what can be done from the inside that can't be done from the outside. Ah, in all honesty, there might be things that could be done elsewhere, but everyone ended up in the weights-and-balances. That's just... a fact. It'd be nice if weights could come off both sides at some point, I suppose. Does that help you?"

:It may.

"Oh, no. Please, it's not your fault."

It's actually quite dark in there, but you can make out the dim light catching on blond hair? Or perhaps a decorative coat.

"Well, I hope it gives you something to go on. Even if just from the outside. Shall I send you back now, or is there anything else I can do for you?"

:Is there anything you could do for me?:

[momentarily baffled...]

"Right!"

:No-- I was asking.:

"Oh, well. I don't know. It's worth trying."

:...just promise me you'll take care of yourself. Other than that, I think-- outside of here is the best place for it, too.
